Sunday, November 22 at 1 pm, Pack 194 will visit Drumlin Farm.
208 South Great Road
Lincoln, MA 01773 (42.409237, -71.331680)
This is not a drop off event, so at least one parent should attend. Siblings are welcome also. The cost is $10 per person. Please email Bill Barney: barney.william”AT”TIAXLLC.com, with the number of children and adults from your family that will attend. The deadline is 11/13/15, but please respond as soon as possible so we can get a head count to Drumlin.
The Drumlin trip is earlier this year to avoid the snow and cold that we get in February. We will be doing the Native Pathways program. This is likely to be somewhat different from past programs we have done. The description from their website follows;
“Explore our fields and forests as if it were 1000 years ago. Where would you live? What would you eat? What tools would you use? How has the land changed? Through a variety of hands-on activities, discover the relationships among plants, animals, people, and the resources we share. Learn how we can live more lightly on the land by listening to the stories of the people who came before us.”
This program should satisfy some badge and elective requirements for scouts at all levels. The ones we have identified are listed below. In some cases the scouts may need to plan ahead to accomplish the requirement (come up with 3 questions to ask a scientist, etc.) or may need to be alert and on the lookout to spot animals. Den leaders should review the requirements to confirm that they are satisfied.
Wednesday, November 11th, 11:45 am
Scouts meet at the Veterans Memorial Park (155 Great Road across from Bedford Marketplace Plaza w/Marshalls and Whole Foods) at 11:45.
The Pack 194 lead for this event is Bill Barney. Please contact him via email at: Barney.William”AT”TIAXLLC.com is you are able to attend.

The campfire ring is a 3-5 minute walk down a path from parking, so please plan accordingly to get to the event on time. We suggest being in place by 6:15 pm. We will be doing skits and toasting S’mores, so come enjoy the evening.
The address/GPS info is:

This annual boy favorite will be back once again. There will also be food from the grill to enjoy as well. Siblings and friends are welcome to come as well and join in the fun.
Monday, September 28th, 7:00pm – First Pack Meeting! John Glenn Middle School Cafeteria
The first official pack meeting of the year. A chance to welcome new boys to the pack and returning Scouts to their new rank year. There will be information for new parents, and a chance to gather the handbook and Pack 194 patch if not already received. The first pack meeting is largely introductory and we will cover some of the Scout basics etc. Also some awards will be handed out for those who earned things over the summer.
This year each pack meeting will have a theme based on one of the 12 points of the Scout Law. September’s theme: A Scout is Friendly
Saturday, September 19th, 9:45am – Bedford Day Parade
We will stage on DeAngelo Drive (off Loomis St.)
Pack 194 will once again take part in the annual Bedford Day Parade. We will march from the staging area, turn on to Great Road, then up to the center of town to the Mudge Way area. Boys should wear the Class A uniform (or best presentation) for the parade. The parade will step off at 10:30. After the parade, Pack 194 will have a booth at the fair with a rain gutter regatta track set-up. We will also be selling homemade chocolate covered pretzels!
Important info about location and timing of the parade can all be found here
or by putting the following URL directly into your browser: http://www.thebedfordcitizen.org/2015/09/16/bedford-day-parade-update-are-you-marching/
A couple of important notes:
- Note the road closure times!
- Tiger parents must march with Tigers
- No boy will be released at the end of the parade until a parent is present at the Mudge Way end point.
- Pack 194 Candy Policy: Tossing candy into the crowd is one of the fun parts of the parade for the boys, but it also makes it difficult to keep order. If anyone wants to bring candy to toss to the crowd, it is welcomed and encouraged. However, please note that uniformed Den Leaders will hold all candy and distribute to the boys throughout the route to their hands. Boys should not have their “own” bag of candy.
Monday, September 14th at 7pm: New Parents Night
25 Great Road, First Church of Christ, Congregational
This event is for parents who have just joined Pack 194 this year and are either new to Scouting or coming from a different pack and want to learn more about how it all works. There will be some handouts and a general discussion about Scouting and Pack 194. It is a great chance to meet the leadership of Pack 194 and ask any questions that you may have. Light refreshments will be served.
Monday, August 24th – Field Day (Mudge Way, Field E)
